You can super-chill beer and other beverages by adding rock salt to your ice mix. By all means, try this at home. Yeti, producer of the world’s best coolers, told me about this great tip. Start by filling your cooler with your beverage of choice and ice. Yeti suggests an ice-to-contents ratio of 2:1. Another good practice is chilling your beverages before loading your cooler as it takes over one pound of ice to cool a six pack of beverages at room temperature. Now, generously sprinkle rock salt (not table salt) over the top of the ice and close your cooler. Wait 30 minutes, then enjoy the coldest beer available.
